SEASON 11: SM24 (THE REVIEW); EPISODE 8: Roadtrip

We see that lockdown is still in full flow…

Today’s episode will be a roundup of some of the matches that we’ve played in succession. We’ll be giving you Soccermanagerites a brief insight into our thoughts pertaining wether or not our expectations has met our reality.

Let’s get this show on the “road”! 🤭

🎺 !!!!

Our first win! And it twas a dramatic one… 😁

After a quite dominant performance and with the game looking to end in a stalemate, Palace took the surprise lead in the 85th minute courtesy of the Ghanaian international, Jeffrey Schlupp. It would have been a hard one to take, but the lads didn’t give up, and six minutes later we scored a deserved equalizer due to our South Korean starlet, Hwang Hee-Chan! Momentum was on our side, and we chose to use it via wining back the ball and immediately going on the attack. Tommy Doyle rode a few tackles in and around the 18 yard box and slid a nice pass into the path of Bellegrade (who was making a late run into the box). He got onto the ball and didn’t hesitate, taking a crisp strike into the keeper’s bottom right hand corner. Wolves 2, Crystal Palace 1. Two goals in less than a minute to win it! 💪
After the match, the chairman personally came into the dressing room to congratulate us for showing such resiliency. “More of the same” he said with a slight smirk, while smacking me on the shoulder…
By the way, Ki-Jana was FANTASTIC against Palace. But the injury monster has struck again… But never fair, our next match is at Molineux against Sheffield United, the worst team within this season’s Prem. What’s the worst thing that could happen?
Oh 💩…

Gotta say that this match was a serious lesson in not underestimating anyone… We were utterly outplayed 🤦‍♂️

In other news, we have a man who is playing outwide in his favorite role, where he doesn’t have much defensive responsibilities, is our outlet and tends to be isolated against his Fullback, yet is still playing like crap? 🤨
Cup victory completed! 👏
Had to completely change the team around and wanted to give a shout out to our young prospects Justin Hubner and González who came up clutch by linking up in order to score the only game of the match! 🤩🤩
In our toughest match to date, it really doesn’t help when we see things like this… 🤦‍♂️ #iykyk
Unfortunately, We’ve now lost back to back matches in the league… It was a game where we have to take the blame since we took the lead early into the match and dominated the first half. After making some dodgy changes (particularly substituting Doherty), Spurs got back into the game and scored two quick late goals to punish our managerial mistake. Football can be owe so cruel at times! 😭

Oh well… That’s the end of our roundup. It’s been an up and downish season so far and we’re sure it’ll be more of the same in the next one…
