Must admit, we had to do some digging about today’s player since he has been used in so many different positions and roles that we questioned the validity of these attributes…
Arguably considered the most versatile player at the highest level, Jonas Hofmann is a Manager’s dream. Not only is he one of the leaders of the “versatility gang”, but he never complains, does the job that’s been asked of him, and guarantees 7 out of 10 performances game after game (6 out of 10, in the Soccermanagerverse).
A player who has played his entire club career in Germany, he was a product of the Hoffenheim academy where he was then swooped up by Borussia Dortmund to continue his education, make it into the first team, and then get sold to Monchengladbach where he is considered a club legend and is now on the verge of even more legendary status as he is a part of what could be the greatest ever season that a single club has ever produced if Bayer Leverkusen can actually go an entire season without defeat in ANY competition (They are still undefeated with a potential 8 more games left to go🤞).
SM24 ATTRIBUTES
One of the major reasons behind Xabi Alonso signing the German was primarily down to his excellent understanding of positional rotations which has been crucial for Alonso’s style of play as we can frequently witness Hofmann and Jeremie Frimpong swapping in and out of position like clock work which has been one of the many weapons at the Spanish coach’s disposal.
Jonas is an all action ‘Box to Box’ Midfielder who many confuse as being a ‘Winger’ or ‘Wide Midfielder’ (💩, even we did…), but it’s his extremeley efficient understanding of these roles which allow him to be such a great addition to any squad. He isn’t necessarily fantastic at any one thing but has it within his locker to do enough to make an impact no matter where one chooses to play him.

TECHNICAL ATTRIBUTES
Straight out the gate, we have what is considered tradition in terms of the attributes of a versatile ⚽ player… Jonas is a compotent passer, dribbler, and set piece taker without being too spectacular. His best attributes are his Positioning (which should always be on the top of every player’s list), as well as his off the ball Movement which is conducive of someone who spends a lot of time playing on the right.
WHAT WE THINK
Although he is decent at Dribbling, he doesn’t aim to dance past anyone, and doesn’t put himself in scenarios where some technical dribbling will be needed, so therefore a 75 is more of a concrete amount ; we mentioned that his Movement is pretty solid which is why it needed an increase from the stock attribute ; Although he isn’t the world’s best set piece taker, Jonas can still strike a deadball and is in need of an increse for his Free Kicks.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Not the most explosive player, what Jonas brings to a team is his hardworking effort which is always a bonus no matter the level you play at, but he isn’t as slow as it is pointed out here within SM24, and if you’re a Manager who likes to play with a lot of width please don’t choose Jonas as one of your ‘Wingers’ since you’ll be dissapointed…
WHAT WE THINK
Other than the improvement to his Pace, we had to put some respect on his Workrate since he is an EXTRMELEY hard working player who truly does a proper shift for his team and will never let you down within this compartment.
MENTAL ATTRIBUTES
🎶 It’s beginning to look a lot like 🎶 Jonas being a representation of your average pro who won’t get any of the spotlight but does his job no matter what, and as a matter of fact we actually don’t see anything wrong with this. His Mentality is that of a true Pro, and there’s not much more you can ask from any player…
WHAT WE THINK
Still had to make some slight adjustments to both his Concentration and Flair since it’s quite disrespectful to say that a player who can play at least 6 different positions doesn’t have proper Concentration, and a player who quite possibly has never beaten a man with a skill move to have such a high Flair doesn’t make any sense…
