Season 7: SMW Superstars Episode 31: Goalkeepers need love too!

Now, did you really think that I was gonna allow us to end the season without showing that appreciation to the beloved Boyz between the sticks? I’ll level with you though, I was actually thinking about not doing it, but with the recent increases from 2 of the GK’s that we’ll be talking about today, it left me no choice and I also haven’t been pleased with the way how I’ve personally been showing appreciation to the man dem between the sticks.

So, in today’s episode, we finally finish season 7 by discussing the 5 world class GK’s currently within SMW in one go. Let’s get into each of them.

MANUEL NEUER 🇩🇪

We start things off with the man who is potentially the Goalkeeper that every other wants to emulate. Manuel Neuer’s consistency as being one of the best GK’s in world football is simply outstanding! A true legend of the game who deserves all of his flowers

MARC-ANDRÉ TER STEGEN 🇩🇪

The player whom many considered to be the heir to the guy above, I honeslty don’t think there’s been another Goalkeeper that had to go through so many different trials and tribulations on his way to the top. He is now considered a top 5 GK in the current game and is one of the better ones with the ball at his feet (albeit, he’s known for what he does as a Shot Stopper than what he does when in possession).

THIBAUT COURTOIS 🇧🇪

When it comes to strictly Goalkeeping, there isn’t a better GK on this list. Standing at a ridiculous 199 cm! (6’6″!!!), he is a colossal of a GK whose physique puts fear into the minds of many Forwards seeking to get past him. And when I said he is the best Shot Stopper within the game, I wasn’t kidding since Courtious has shown time and time again that when he says you’re not going to get past him, you’re not gonna get past him… This brilliant ability to salvage his goal has seen him rightfully be increased to the ’95’ rating that he truly deserves.

EDERSON 🇧🇷

The man who is presently the modern day superstar GK, Ederson is a player who is so talented that there was quite possibly a spot for him within a different position other than being a Shot Stopper. But, with his pinpoint accuracy and kicking power, it’s safe to say that he did the world of football good via staying in this position!

ALISSON 🇧🇷

The lad whom many across the game consider to be the best GK in the world, Alisson Ramsés Becker is a Manager’s dream for the type of GK that you’ll want to have between the sticks. From his ball playing abilities, elite shot stopping, and incredible reading of the game, Alisson tightly holds the spot as the best Keeper in the game and we can only expect him to go from strength to strength.

Wow, what a journey! Now we can officially say good bye to season 8. But, don’t go too far because coming up over the weekend, we’ll be taking a look at the SMB Story series return, and it will be a big one as we’ll be taking a look at the match between Chelsea and Liverpool. 🍿
