Gents, we are taking a look at serious royalty today and we may have not been even able to see him play if a certain manager did not lose faith in his ability….. Now, I’m not trying to come after Chelsea supporters or anything, but they have made some serious duds in terms of players that they’ve let go who have went on to become absolute world beaters, and although many might consider Mohamad Salah (who we’ll be talking about in a future epiode) being their biggest loss, I personally beileve that the loss of KDB has to go down as one of the worst footballing and business decisions in the history of our game…. Look, I am a huge fan of Mourinho (as a matter of fact, he’s actually in the top 3 for me), but his reluctance to give Kevin more opportunities when he was signed back in 2012 was a really poor decision since KDB showed some absolute potential, but it was Jose’s lack of patience with youth players that caused him to leave. And what happens after, he joined Wolfsburg, and during the course of a single campaign, was awarded the player of the season, ending the 2014/15 bundesliga campaign with a whopping 16 goals and 20 assists in his FIRST FRREAKING SEASON!!!!!! Manchester City wasted absolutely no time in capturing him for a BARGAIN 54 million pounds in the summer of 2015 and, as thay say, the rest is history…

Whenever I see this guy’s bio on SMW, I cannot help but put a big smile on my face since KDB is just a beautiful player to watch. When it comes to mastery on the pitch, making the difficult look very easy, he’s on par with Lionel Messi for those categories. He is just simply an OUTSTANDING football player
BEST ATTRIBUTES WITHIN SM23
We’re truly headed into Goated status as we can see by how many word class attributes this man has…. Of course, I have a few things to analyze, however. Firstly, KDB is one of the best finishers in the Prem and should have a higher ‘Finisher’ attribute. Additionally, he may be capable of using his speed and explosive dribbling technique to drive past opposition players, but he is not really a flair player as you will rarely see Kevin looking to put himself in 1v1 situations or using fancy footwork to get out of tough situations. Therefore, I believe his ‘Flair’ attribute should be lower (as a matter of fact, both attributes should be swapped in my opinion)
BEST ROLES
KDB is one of the most intelligent players in world football and can be used in many different ways but his bread and butter is that of being a ‘Floating Advanced Playmaker’ (the best in the world to boot)When Kevin drops deeper to play in the centre of the park, he plays in a similar fashion to Bruno but at a simply higher level as well as being more comfortable helping in build up play before getting into more dangerous positionsOf course, KDB is also comfortable playing in the wide areas in a front 3 or in a front 4 and his ability to slow down his play then use his pace to explosively go past a player makes him more of an asset in this position compared to other players of the same elk As I mentioned, KDB is comfortable helping out in build up play which means that he can be tasked with a ‘Playmaker’ role when using a formation similar to this one He has shown this season that he has that knack for scoring goals which means that he is also capable of playing ‘Support Striker’ (even though he no longer has the ability to play as a F(C) )
HOW TO BEST USE HIM
Ultimately, though, Kevin should be in the heart of every attack which can best occur if he is playing in that important No.10 position. Similarly to Bruno, he too wants to be given the licenses to float around and go wherever he pleases, which is why his ultimate best would be to not use him as your Playmaker
WHO ARE THE BEST TEAMATES?
First of all, KDB is 1 of only 2 world class players in Soccermanager who does not need to have any particular player next to him in order to get him at his best. He’s simply just that good. But, there are still some teammates that you can consider if you’re like me and want complete structure from defense all the way to the attack
What you will need from Kevin (when playing him in the above formation) is 2 teammates who allow Kevin to showcase his attacking prowess: a ‘Ball Winning ‘Midfielder to cover for Kevin thus allowing him to attack even more, and a ‘Explosive’ Target Man or ‘Finisher’ who will look to benefit from the best passer of a football in the world. I mean, the Haaland KDB connection over this season speaks for itself.
When choosing to play Kevin in a midfield 3, he will be at his ultimate best if paying next to a ‘BWM’, a ‘FB’ giving him more license to get into those half spaces and play those devilish crosses into the box, and his main man up top who is aiming to be the recipient of these crosses
When playing in a Front 3, you of course want your defensive protection to allow KDB to come infield, a ‘WB’ to provide the width on the same flank as Kevin, his partner in crime up top who is salivating about the prospect of a “KDB special”, and, although not 100% necessary, an Explosive ‘Winger’ on the other side who will hug the touch line and allow Kevin to get even more freedom on the ball (again, Mahrez is not the best example of the type of Winger you should consider, but it’s not mandatory in the first place soo…) The only time that we should consider using Kevin as our Playmaker is if you choose to play any back 3 or 5 formations as there is enough protection for him to get more involved in the build up play and while Bruno would stiffle given this responsibility, Kevin would simply run the show which exactly why he’s the best AM(C) in the world. Just picture this scene: You’ve decided to set up in an old fashioned 4-4-1-1 formation where you want to be a bit more defensive. You decided to play with your men behind ball while pressing in your own area. You place 9 players behind the ball (including the GK), while leaving your front 2 upfront, and your front 2 is Haaland and KDB……
If it’s one thing that I have never been able to do is get the luxury of using this brilliant Belgium. But, I choose not to sulk! As my opportunity will come eventually…
Now then, remember earlier when I mentioned that KDB was 1 of 2 people who are currently thr only world class players that don’t actually need to have any other type of player around them?
