¡Hola Señoras! Como Estás? Hope you’re ready for another banger!
Amazingly, we are looking at a player who is currently in a league of his own pertaining the role that he specifies in. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, but here’s an indicator of where the current modern game is taking us. Nevertheless, in today’s episode we will be looking at the best destroyer of a team’s possession in our game today, Brazil’s very own Casemiro.
The Brazilian stalwart started his career in the midst of São Paolo where he was identified as the next best thing out of Brazil within his position. During the course of his early tenure at Madrid, Casemiro was not considered a regular (not even a bench warmer as he couldn’t get into the team at all). And, if not for injuries to the likes of Fernando Gago, as well as the departure of Xabi Alonso, he may have never gotten the opportunity to showcase his brilliance. But, you know as they say, when opportunity rises, the strong take it and run which is exactly what Casemiro did. Ever since getting his opportunity in the Madrid first team, he literally has never looked back and was considered their most important player within the 5 Champions Leagues that Madrid have won over the last decade. Honestly, where would Madrid be if they never had their Brazilian pit bull in the middle of the pitch cleaning up the opposition with his aggressiveness and monumental tackling???
PLAYER BIO
If it’sone thing that we are going to learn throughout the course of this season is that there is no longer an early decline when players are in their 30’s since they have been taking very good care of themselves off the pitch, and Casemiro is no exception to this rule
BEST ATTRIBUTES WITHIN SM23
One of the beauties about players similar to Casemiro is the fact that they do not require a lot of different attributes to become world class at their role. But when they do, it is a matter of them being simply the best at their specific strengths (so much so that you simply cannot leave them out of your team when you have them at your club). With all that being said, I do have some gripes pertaining his attributes within SM23. Firstly, there is absolutely no way that Casemiro has any defensive qualities lower than ’90’. I mean, have you ever seen him play? He is one of the best tacklers of a ball, and the way he man marks the best attackers out of games is simply fantastic; I decided to showcase his passing abilities since he is no slouch on the ball and has a decent range of passing as he has shown within his short time at Manchester United where he has been tasked with a bit more responsibility on the ball, whereas his time at Madrid saw him solely responsible for being the ‘Destroyer’. Lastly, how embarrassing is it to see that Casemiro’s strength is on ’71’? Wow, I honestly could not believe it when I saw it at first. I mean, he’s called ‘The Tank’ for a reason, right??? (SMH 🤦)
BEST ROLES
Casemiro is a one role man who only wants to kill his opposition with tackles, intercept any dangerous balls, and showcase his leadership qualities within the engine room. Therefore, no matter what formation you play, you should only give him the role as your sole ‘Ball Winning MidfielderEven whilst starting him within a double pivot, he still should only be granted that coveted BWM role…..Whether Back 3, 5, or 6, the role still remains the same .In addition, you should also aim to play him as the sole BWM since he absolutely thrives as a lone warrior surrounded by better technical players in front of him in a similar fashion to how some Strikers operate better when playing up front alone like a Drogba, Van Nestlerooy , or Diego Costa (is it such a coincidence that they also possess incredible bouts of Strength? 🙄)
HOW TO BEST USE HIM
The ideal method of getting the absolute best out of Casemiro is via playing him within a Midfield 3 where he is the sole ball winner within the trio. You can also consider playing him within a double pivot, but I personally believe the above role and formation would do the trick
WHO ARE THE BEST TEAMATES?
One of the best things about BWM’s is that they are not too bothered when it comes to the teammates around them (which is down to the fact that the Ball Winning Midfielder role is a very unique and specialized role which I explained in more detail within season 4). There are still some teammates that you should consider paying alongside him in order to truly get Casemiro at his optimal best, and those teammates would be a ‘Playmaker who would to be the creative spark within the team as well as a ‘Ball Playing Defender’ who can step out of the back line and aid in progression of the ball which will allow Casemiro to solely focus on his defensive responsibilitiesWe have the exact same thing if you were to consider using Casemiro within a double pivot such as a 4-2-3-1. His best partner would be a ‘Playmaker; who dictates the tempo, while the BPD would continue the help when it comes to spraying it round the gaff! Yet again, I sound like a broken record (lol), but it will be the same set up no matter what formation you choose to use. This is why BWM’s are so important as well as rare as they make the rest of the team effectively work better without having too much of a headache pertaining the specific types of players you will need to play a specific style of play
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
There’s a trend of utilizing the Brazilian world class players within soccermanager out of position! 😅 Defensively, Casemiro has all the qualities required to truly be an exceptional D(C), and if you were to ever be in a dyre situation where you don’t have enough Center Backs available for an upcoming match (or if you simply just want to do an experiment), you can use Casemiro within your back line by playing him as a BPD which occurs by playing a ‘Stopper’ next to him that simply wants to defend and defend only, as well as a ‘Fullback’ who will provide extra cover so that Casemiro does not get isolated 1v1
Casemiro is one of the very last breed of Ball Winning Midfielders operating at the very high level and it will be the best thing if we were to actually use him playing as a world class enforcer since BWM’s still possess an importance in the modern game with their ability to protect your backline and also provide a platform for the attacking players within your X1 to play with more freedom.
Coming up next, we have a set of diminutive ballers who are true midfield maestros that will be causing your opposition a whole lot of problems if you get the best out of them, of course). Stay tuned! ✌️
