SEASON 4: PLAYER ROLES ; EPISODE 6: PLAYER ATTRIBUTES PT.5

What’s good soccermanagerite? Hope you had an amazing weekend! Like I said in Friday’s episode, the following attributes are usually misunderstood by most of the community as they are not easily measured or visible by the naked eye. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that they are absoultely Crucial for every player within this game.

The Mental Attributes are all about the attitude of a player, and if you know anyhting about mentality, you know that a person’s mindset has the potential to make or break them. So, this is why I’m here to discuss these mental attributes and bring some clarity on how they are useful when thinking of the type of players you want to purchase and the type of soccer you want to play.

Lettuce (ha!) begin:

Aggression: This is the ability of a player to make their opponent feel uncomfortable on the pitch. This can be done by constant hassling of opponnents on the ball, lunging into tackles with intent to cause fear, kicking a player secretly, stamping on a player when they’re on the ground, getting into physical altercations, sledging an opponent and so on.

Composure: This is the ability of a player to remain calm under pressure situations. It varies depending on the match situation and position of the player. So, for Defenders and Keepers, this would be how they handle a 1 V 1 situation. For midfielders, this would be how they manage to get out of tight positions where they are under intense pressure. For Attackers, this would be how they handle being through on goal.

Concentration: This is the ability of a player to focus when he is not on the ball. So, a good indicator of a player’s concentration level would be how often he scans the field when out of posession.

Flair: This is an attribute for attacking players only that demonstrate their level of confidence with the ball at their feet. So, players with high flair would be more willing to perform more risky actions on the pitch like taking a panenka penaltly, attemping an audacious skill (like a rabona or flip flap), attempt no look passes, or always looking to humilate their opponent .

Leadership: A very underrated attribute, this is a player’s ability to be the example on the field wether its via continous high level performances, using their voice to motivate teammates, or performing match winning plays.

And there you have it. The mental attributes found within Soccermanager23! I hope you’ve been enjoying our look at every attribute so far.
