Before we get into the all important player roles, I have to go over something that is probably never considered when setting up your tactics or purchasing new players for your pattern of play: SM 23’s player attributes.

The player attributes are basically the ability of each player within the mobile game. What most managers seem to forget is that the people who created the mobile game (@Invincible studios) are the same team that created SoccerManager Worlds! So, what this means is that the attributes that you see for 90 rated Sadio Mane on SM23 are the same attributes that 94 rated Sadio Mane has in SM worlds! This also means that both Sadio’s play as aWide Forward within both games. I’ve gotten into countless debates with different managers about their disbelief with the fact that SM23 and SM Worlds correlate with each other. It’s as if they’ve forgotten that both games are ran by the same company, lol.

So, in today’s episode (and the next few episodes following), we’ll be briefly explaining each individual attribute in order for everyone to understand which group of attributes work together, which will help us identify a player’s preferred role (some players on SM23 have been given incorrect roles by the creators unfortunately). If you do not play SM23 and only play Worlds, here is an image of the attributes that I’m talking about:

Image of the player attributes found within SoccerManager23. These attributes are also used for 94 rated Saido Mane in Socermanager Worlds.

Let’s start off by looking at some of the ‘Techincal’ attributes. For anyone who doesn’t know, Technical simply means a player’s ability on the ball mixed with their football IQ.

Marking: A player’s ability to track an opposition’s every movement.

Tackling: The ability of winning the ball back cleanly without impeding the opponent.

Positioning: A player’s ability to find themselves in different areas on the field to receive the ball, stop an opposition, or creating better angles for themselves or their teammates.

Movement: The abilty of a player to make off the ball runs to affect the decision making of a teamate on the ball, as well as the opposition when they are defending.

Finishing: A player’s ability to get shots on the target from various different angles and situations.

Let’s end it here for today soccermanagerite. I know, I know, I can hear your groans from where you are. But don’t worry at all, as we’ll be back tomorrow to continue the rest of the list in order for your undersatnding of this game to continue to blossom! See you, soccermanagerite! ✌️
