SEASON 3: FORMATION MATTERS The forgotten episode: ( 4-1-3-2)

A 4-1-3-2 set up

😅

We’re back with another banger of a blog today as we continue our look at every formation found within soccermanger. First things first, I’ve been attempting to get some more feedback from you guys pertaining anything soccermanger (wether it’s relatable to these episodes or not). So, if you have anything you wanna speak about, don’t be afraid to leave a comment. You can also get me via email at shaheemjackson9@gmail.com. If you’re more of a social media person, then you can contact me via our Facebook page (The soccermanager blog) via this link right here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084360973117

Now, with that out the way, let’s get into today’s blog, shall we?

We’ll be diving into a very unique formation that is normally played by teams in real life as their ‘attacking shape on the ball’. So, what this means is that a team ( let’s say for example, A team playing 4-4-2C) would transition into today’s formation when they’re on the ball, but would immediately retreat back into the 4-4-2C when they’re defending. The formation of today’s blog is ofocurse the 4-1-3-2. It consists of 4 Defenders, 1 Defensive Midfielder 3 Central or Attacking Midfielders, and 2 Forwards. This formation is a very attack minded formation that allows you to overload the opposition’s box with a lot of players. Like every formation, they’re some critical flaws within this one but if you’re someone who likes to be on the front foot then you should definitely give it a go.

This formation is very Brazillan based, and is probably the only place in the world of football where you’d find a team starting with this shape from minute 1 all the way to minute 90.

PROS
• One of the best formations to apply press all over
• One of the best formations to play Through The Middle
• Full backs don’t have to be extremely offensive as there is no need for constant over lapping

CONS
• A very physically dominant, fast and defensively sound DM is required to play as the sole Midfielder ( So think of a Fabinho, Kante, Tchouamenni, Casemiro)
• This formation is not suitable for Wingers, or Wide Forwards ( Unless you play the latter in one of the Centre Forward positions)
• The sole DM can become extremely isolated which can cause a lot of dpace for the opposition
• Formation lacks versatility because it can only be used for Attack and High pressing situations

To think that I almost forgot to upload this episode…. Man, I would’ve been so pissed if that happend. Anywho, on to our final episode within the ‘4’s’ series and, trust me, you’re gonna absolutely love it! 🤙
