In today’s episode we take a look at the first formation within this new series. Rather than doing these in the order of how they are presented on soccermanager in the tactics page, I’ve decided to go from all the formations that have 3 at the back. So, first up is the very unorthodox 3-1-3-3 formation. If this is your first ever blog post with me, then mate you’re in for a real treat as I’m about to make a pretty dope first impression!
The 3-1-3-3 formation is a very attack minded formation that consists of 3 Defenders, 1 Defensive Midfielder, 3 Central/Attacking Midfilders , and 3 Forwards. The key reason for using this formation is if you’re someone who likes to dominate the the central areas of the pitch with players who are very flexible and comfortable playing in several dfferent positions. A team within real life football that currently plays this formation at times is Julian Nagglesmann’s Bayern Munich. On paper, you’ll rarely see them begin in this position but once they get on the ball that’s when their pattern changes and you begin to see this formation in action.

PROS
*Central domination of the field will normally occur
*Once in posession, your team makes it very difficult for your opposition to get back posession of the ball
*It allows for a lot of positional rotations (aka roaming)
*Playing an all out attacking style is more probable
CONS
*Formation does not allow you to play without a deep lying playmaker
*There’s only 3 recognized Defenders, therefore your team can be suceptiple against posession heavy teams
*This formation is not suitable for playing with wide players (Wingbakcs, Wide Midfielders, Wingers etc)
*It is very vunerable against teams that like to play down both flanks
AS you can see, the format for these posts are very precise and straight to the point so you get the best bang for your buck in terms of your reading expereince. Join me tomorrow as we look at the next formation with the ‘3 Series’✌️
